Products - Anti-Gout
Allopurinol + Benzbromarone
ALLOMARON
Formulation:
Each film-coated tablet contains
Allopurinol
.. 100mg
Benzbromarone
20mg
Pharmacological Properties:
Allopurinol intervenes in the metabolism of uric acid. Benzbromarone accelerates the excretion of uric acid towards normal. These two components of Allomaron complement each other in their action. As a result if the combination of these two active principles, the dose of each component can be kept at low level and their tolerance greatly increased. Even at a low dose daily, Allomaron reduces elevated serum uric acid levels. Existing deposits of uric acid are mobilized and excreted;consequently, renal damage is prevented.
Indications:
Hyperuricemia of all aetiologies, gout.
Dosage and Administration:
One film-coated tablet daily after breakfast or luch. If necessary, when uric acid levels are greatly elevated, 2 or 3 tablets may be prescribed daily. Treatment should begin at a low dose. To maintain the normal levels of serum uric acid once these have been achieved, treatment should be continued unless otherwise ordered by doctor.
Containdications:
Allomaron should be avoided in case of severe renal function impairment and during pregnancy and lactation.
Adverse Reactions:
Hypersensitivity reactions (allergic skin reactions, gastro-intestinal disturbances and diarrhea) may rarely occur. In such cases the doctor should be consulted.
Precautions:
During the first few months the mobilization of uric acid deposits in the body may result in occasional joint symptoms. The doctor should be informed of this. The effect of azathiopine and or mercaptopurine is intensified so that the daily dose of these agents should be reduced before treatment with Allomaron. The anticoagulant effect of the coumarin derivatives is intensified by Allomaron.
