fenticonazole
LOMEXIN®

Formulation:

    Each vaginal ovule contains:
    Fenticonazole nitrate…………100mg

    Each g of the vaginal cream contains:
    Fenticonazole nitrate………… 20mg

Properties:

    LOMEXIN is a broad spectrum antimycotic. Its active ingredient is fenticonazole [(12,4-dichlorophenyl)-2-(N-imidazolyl)ethyl-4-phenythiobenzyl ether nitrate]. An imidazole derivative synthesized by Recordati.

    Fenticonazole has been shown to be effective against all tested strains of Tricophyton mentagrophytes, T. verucosum, T. rubrum, T. tonsurans and T. terrestre; aginst Microsporum canis, M. gypseum, M. auddouini, M. vulvum, N.cookei, aginst Epidermophyton floccosum, Candida albicans, Cryptococcus neoformas, Geotrichum candicum; Torulopsis glabrata, Sporotricum schenki, Aspergillus niger, A fumingatus, A. flavus, and Penicillin crysogenum.

    LOMEXIN is also effective aginst some Gram-positive bacteria, Staphylococcus. Streptococcus. LOMEXIN has been shown to be active against Trichomonas vaginalis and is therefore also highly effective against the mycoses associated with bacterial superinfections.

Indications:

    Ovule:

    Genital candidiasis (vulvovaginitis, colpitis)
    Trichomoniasis
    Mised infections from sensitive agents

    Cream:

    For the treatment of cutaneous infections due to dermatophytes and pytriasis versicolor.

Contraindications:

    Proven hypersensitivity to the product and other imidazole derivatives.

Side effects:

    LOMEXIN is generally tolerated on both the skin and mucous membranes, only very rare case of minor and provisional erythematous reactions have been reported.

    After intravaginal administration, a slight burning sensation may occur which normally disappears immediately.

    If irritation occurs and persists or if resistant microorganisms develop, suspend treatment and seek medical advice.

    LOMEXIN is only slightly absorbed so no effects on the system as a whole should occur, if instructions for use are properly followed.

Dosage & Administration:

    Ovule:

    Insert one 1000mg ovule into the vagina before going to bed. If symptoms persist, treatment may be repeated after three days.

    For Trichomonas infections:

    One 1000mg ovule should be used, followed by a second application three days after the first, if necessary.

    Introduce the ovules deeply into the vagina, up to the level of the fornix.

    Cream:

    LOMEXIN cream should be applied 1-2 times a day, according to physician's directions after washing and drying the affected part.

    Treatment with LOMEXIN should be regularly done until the lesions are completely healed.

    LOMEXIN cream is not greasy, does not stain, and can easily be removed with water.
